+ DO I HAVE TO BE ON VIDEO?
No. We use zoom with audio only.
+ DO I HAVE TO WRITE?
Nope! But after sitting there doing nothing for a few minutes you'll want to! You can also bring some journal prompts and do some freewriting for inspiration. Some business owners come to co-work because working with friends is more fun than working alone. At the start of sessions, you'll often get writing prompts to support you.
+ I’M NOT A WRITER, IS THIS FOR ME?
YES! Most people in here wouldn't call themselves a "writer" — most don't write for a living. This is for business owners who need support and feedback on their writing. Most business owners need to write (a lot) for their business. Whether you’re writing your very first blog post, have been in business for years, or are pivoting your brick and mortar business online, this is for you.
+ I’M A WRITER and I don't need writing feedback, IS THIS FOR ME?
We love writers! If you don’t need feedback, you’re welcome to join us in the co-writing community here.
+ HOW MUCH FEEDBACK WILL I GET DURING THE COACHING CALLS?
You’ll get at least 1-2 rounds of focused feedback on your particular piece of writing. You can get more depending on how much feedback the others request. You’ll also learn oodles from listening to the feedback others get live on the call. Space is limited in the community and there are usually between 3-10 marathoners on each call so you get the most feedback and personalized attention possible.
+ HOW MUCH COPY WILL YOU REVIEW DURING THE COACHING CALLS?
As much as possible. Whatever copy we review during the marathon doesn’t count toward your monthly review word count (2,000 words per month).
+ HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT FOR A COPY REVIEW?
Copy reviews during the coaching calls are practically instantaneous. For your 2,000 words of copy each month, these reviews happen on Mondays and Thursdays each week. So, if you submit copy on a Friday, you’ll have your review by end of day Monday.
+ WHAT IF I HAVE MORE THAN 2,000 WORDS TO REVIEW IN A MONTH?
You can roll over up to 2,000 words into the next month. So if you miss a month of reviews, you can submit 4,000 words the following month. If you have a big writing project, then we can chat about member-only rates on additional writing and editing support.
+ I HAVE A HUGE WRITING PROJECT, CAN YOU REVIEW MORE COPY?
Yes, ask me about member-only rates.
+ WHEN DOES THE MONTH BEGIN AND END?
On the day of the month you sign up.
+ I’M BUSY, CAN I SKIP A MONTH?
Committing to your writing (and all the other words that need to happen in your business) is a big deal. You owe it to yourself to do your work and the Writing Community will hold you accountable and cheer you on!
+ WHEN DO THE COACHING CALLS HAPPEN?
Once each month, on weekdays. Some members come to all the sessions, and some don’t attend at all and they just submit their copy in a private Google Doc for review. 2023 remaining coaching calls: 📆 Nov. 16, 1:30-4:30 pm ET 📆 Dec. 11, 2:00 - 5:00 pm ET
+ I’M WRITING A BOOK, IS THIS FOR ME?
Yes. You can use your 2,000 words a month for a high-level review of book content (note, this is not a professional book edit).
