Meet the Intuitive Writing School Community

After 4 years and 1,300+ hours of community writing sessions, I decided to change the name of my writing community.

The name hadn’t been sitting well with me for months. But I didn’t have any other ideas. I also appreciated how much the current members liked the name.

When a member told me they tried to tag me on Twitter with something about the community, and it was flagged for “sensitive content,” I knew it was time.

Change can be challenging to embrace, and I’m not a fan of change just for change’s sake — it needs to have a purpose. And just because I wrote a book about navigating change doesn’t mean it always comes easy.

Now, I didn’t decide to change it just because it was flagged.

Over the past 4 years, I can count on one hand the time's someone has been confused or downright pissed at me.

“What do you mean, literally fucking a mother?”
“We’re corporate, we can’t support that.”
“What exactly does MOFO mean?”

If you have to ask, it’s not for you.

I’d outgrown the name. I was at a very different place in my life and business than when I sparked the name in 2018.

My next book, which I’m in the middle of editing right now, is all about writing. I was originally going to call the book “Write Like a MOFO.” You know, to align with the writing community name.

Now, books with sweary titles have had their time.

And if you walk into a bookstore today, it’s as if sweary titles have their own section. The ship has sailed for relying solely on a 4-letter word to sell your stuff.

The problem with Write Like a MOFO is that people who know me love it. People who don’t yet know me, well, it doesn’t work.

I know this book is meant to help LOTS of people. Same with the writing community. And if the book and community have a limiting name, I’m keeping it small.

With the new name, I wanted something…

  • Inclusive — it’s for business owners, creatives, and anyone who writes — whether you write for corporate, for others, or for yourself

  • Expansive — it’s about HOW you write, not about what you're writing

  • Approachable — you don’t need a fancy piece of paper from an ivy league school to use words and call yourself a writer

The name hit me as I was editing my book.

It’s Intuitive.

It’s The Unfussy Intuitive Writing School Community!

As soon as I wrote it down, I knew. It felt aligned, natural.

I didn’t even need to confirm it with my spiritual teacher, who reads the Akashic Records. Well, I mean, I asked her, but I didn’t get a reply. Which is fine. I didn’t need one anyway.

Unfussy. It’s the new MOFO.

Yes, we've got a new name, and we're still doing the same great stuff in the community.

WRITING.

Writing when it's hard.
Writing when we don't want to.
Writing for ourselves first — before our client work.
Writing about the things that keep us up at night.
Writing what needs to see the light of day.

Again and again.

The doors to the community are always open. You can jump in today and join us for co-writing tomorrow morning.

Because when you need a writing community, you need one like, yesterday.

"Expert" membership marketers say that keeping membership doors open all the time is a bad strategy because there's no urgency.

Only your soul knows when it's urgent to write. Fake urgency isn't going to make you magically start writing.

What I do know...

When you're ready to write, The Intuitive Writing School community is the best place to support you.
I've been supporting people with their writing, whether in corporate or their own business, since 2005. And writing for the online world for a decade. From management consulting to crisis communications to change management to book writing to copywriting — I've done it all. And, I'll continue to do a lot because I'm here to serve.

If you're reading this and wonder what it's like to be in the writing community, maybe this is your signier sign.
