The secret to starting any kind of big project
The big secret to starting any kind of project isn’t groundbreaking, magical, or really even a secret for that matter.
You just have to start.
Simply start.
In the past few months, I’ve been getting these creative nudges. Some have been full out creative punches in the mouth. This is what I get for not paying attention to the little pokes to begin with.
The nudges are coming both from my gut and from real people.
"You're creative."
"You inspire me."
"You need to honor your creativity."
"You're not a Virgo, you're a Libra."
"I love the art you share!"
And last... "Why not start with one doodle a day?"
I’ve grown sick of hearing myself say that I want to draw more, paint more, and make more stuff. More art, more creativity.
Then someone challenged me to just do a doodle a day.
Why didn’t I think of that? It was such a simple and tidy suggestion that it was impossible to say no to.
I can do that!
My clients often ask me, “How do I start writing a blog?” or “How do I start writing a book?”
They sometimes don’t like me when I give them the unsexy answer—start with one.
That’s it. Just start with one.
They sigh and get to work. With me high-fiving them and cheering them on in the background!
Whether that’s one word, one sentence, one page—you have to get out of your head and get moving.
Look, it’s probably going to suck when you start. And that’s relative, anyway.
If you start today, think of how much you’ll have written, drawn, painted, made, and crafted in a month, in a year.
Your future self wants you to simply start today.
