Doing Less with Kate Northrup

In 2020, I joined Kate Northrup’s intimate Incubator 10-month program.

And let me just say, what a year to be in that sacred container! It was the support I didn’t know I needed.

A few years prior, I had been introduced to her teaching around doing less and aligning your business activities with nature’s cycles — the moon, seasons, and menstrual cycle.

It’s so crazy simple and so wildly effective.

Now, an important thing to know about doing less — it doesn’t mean just saying no to a bunch of stuff and putting your feet up by the pool all day.

It’s about:

  • Focusing on what matters

  • Saying yes to what’s important

  • Honing in on the 20% of the activities that bring 80% of the results

In 2020 I averaged 30 hours a week. (and we had lots of time at home that year!)

In 2021, so far, I’m averaging 20-24 hours a week — this includes client work, marketing, behind the scenes, blogging, emailing, consults, client calls, community calls, social posting, and everything in between.

How I was able to accomplish this was by following do less principles, managing my nervous system, and putting my body first. A large contributing factor that helped me learn and implement was the Origin Membership.

When I had the opportunity to host an intimate chat with the Unfussy Writing Community members I jumped at the chance.

Meet Kate, bestselling author of Do Less and Money: A Love Story, CEO, planner creator, and regenerative business researcher, she’s here to explore and share how we can be more relaxed while making an impact.

Kate created The Origin Company to help aspiring and established business owners work less while having less stress and creating more abundance. She believes in making a life, not just a living.

We’re all about making the most of every minute so that we can get our important writing work done.

Tune in for this intimate Q&A session where you’ll hear Kate’s timeless wisdom to questions like:

  1. How do I manage tending to messages and create space in my day to be more present for myself and my clients? I’ve contemplated just checking and responding to messages just in the morning and evening and but it also doesn't interest me to start and end my day that way....

  2. How do I make myself available for more income and less available to be accessible throughout the day to the constant flow in communications?

  3. How do I use the strategies you teach if I no longer cycle (menopause)?

  4. What is the one thing you added to (or removed from) your routine that was the biggest game-changer for Doing Less?

  5. What was your process for writing Do Less? What will you do next time (if there are more books)?

  6. What advice do you have for perfectionists?

The Origin Membership doors are currently closed.
